Town Hall Meeting Rules & Topics

Iga will be the moderator for this meeting.

This is a rough schedule:

5:30 Dome Standard Time: Open meeting hall for people to enter.

6:00 DST: Begin meeting, welcoming statements from Moderator.

6:15 DST: Begin an open discussion on the issues, each topic should be given a minimum of 15 minutes discussion time, a maximum of 30 minutes. At any time the moderator will be able to call a 'last comments' and the topic will be moved on from after 2 minutes.

8:30 (may be later.) - Discussion of any ideas brought to the Town Hall that are not in the above schedual of discussion.

9:00 (or later) - Closing of the meeting, and final thank you from the moderator(s) to all the participants.

These are the rules:

1: Only one person may talk at a time.
2: Each person is limited to roughly 400 characters per comment.
3: Discussion will be directed by the Town Hall Moderator, who will have the ability to talk at any time. Comments will be queued in the order received, and posted in the order received.

The above rules are set in place in order to maintain an orderly discussion in an environment that lends itself to multiple discussions at the same time. While the town hall is in effect, participants can feel free to discuss points being made in a more real-time manner via AIM or some other communications media. We would ask that any important and relevant AIM conversations be sent to the Sindome Group (email [email protected]) as well, if the participants agree and wish to have it sent.

4: Topics will follow the Itinerary for discussion, new ideas brought up will be moved to the end of the discussion period, or moved to a forum on the BgBB for later discussion if needed.

5: Personal insults will not be tolerated, those who personally attack anyone in the meeting will be blocked from the meeting immediately. (Iga's words, not mine - J)

6: If needed, a topic will be given a time limit so that all initial topics can be explored before the meeting is adjourned. Additionally, if a topic becomes off-topic, the moderator can halt discussion of it and note it for later discussion.

7: All comments in the town hall will be publicly logged and posted as a text document for the greater Sindome community to read shortly following the meeting (maybe that evening or over the weekend - J)

8: The goal of the town hall is not to set definitive decisions, but to get feed back from the greater Sindome community, so no firm goals will be decided during the meeting, rather, the meeting will be used to set goals for the staff and players as they work and interact within the game.

These are the topics:
1) Discuss why new players appear to be leaving Sindome at an early character or Guest status stage. Table ways to increase the new players in the game, and ways to make it 'easier' for them to want to stay, be it more money, excitement, etc.

2) Discuss the Sindome 'Learning Curve' as applied to new players, and ways to decrease the base-level education of new players so they are not intimidated by the scope of the Sindome world. Is expanding @newbie the answer? Or adding help skills to chargen? Giving an IC way to point to game hotspots (Drome, Carnal, Oriface, Grunens, ect)

3) The movement of 'large scale' goods in the economy. (Guns, ammo, etc.) The lack of use of 'large scale' goods in the economy. (Guns, ammo, etc.)

4) GM/Player Interactions, ICly and OOCly, in terms of effecting situations within the Sindome game.

5) General player understanding of the Cyberpunk Theme, and Realism within this theme.

6) Ways in which players can enable themselves within the game, without the direct need of administrative or GM help. (Getting started as a cyberpunk 101) Ways to combat player apathy, and ways -PLAYERS- can activate the Sindome experiance.

7) The realities of a volunteer adminsitration and GM crew, and how it affects players and staff alike. Ways that players and staff can interact based on a real-world expectation model, and feedback from the player base as to where staff should be directing the majority of our efforts.

8) Player Run Businesses. The perspective from the code/GM/staff monitored economy side. The realities as seen by the players, and what the staff need to do to bring the two concepts together.

9) Player interaction, and the 'stay in cube' effect. Why are players staying in cubes, when outside there is a game world to interact with. Why are players logging on for 30 seconds, checking the who list, then logging off right away, rather than waiting or spending a bit of time in the game. What is keeping players from going out and interacting with each other. Is it a deadzones issue? A thematic issue? A problem with staff, or a problem with players?

10) The demand for 'non-useful' items in the game, and why players don't buy a lot of food/clothing/etc. Is this a good thing or a bad thing or irrelivant to the Sindome experiance?

11) The general state of Role Playing in the Sindome world.

If you feel there are missed topics, bring up issues on this forum. Also feel free to comment on the rules and/or schedule. We can't promise accomidations, but we'll make a reasonable attempt where we can.

The following topics were not addressed due to time and burnout of all envolved in the town hall:

A second town hall will be schedualed in the future. Thanks to all who came out. It was wonderful to see you here.
