Repost: CP movies and such.

Unfortunately, I believe this is just page 2 of 2, and by now, page one will have been replaced in my cache (unless I actually do have it here, just don't see it…)

Originally mine…

Oh, got some more...

Total Recall (The Arny movie), and Total Recall 2020 (the new series).

I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I catch the TV show every so often.  It's sort of a mild Cyberpunk... or perhaps it's just from a different point of view.  The main character is a government agent, and often runs into brick walls when facing the mega-powerfull Recall corp.   His partner is an android, and the android's creator is a distributed AI (kind of like our Genesis-8 who pops up from time to time).

Movies this year:

AI - steven spielberg; starring that kid from sixth sense
PotA - those damn monkeys
Final Fantasy - hot damn freakin' sweet arse fully CG movie. http://www.finalfantasy.com (don't know if i did that right)
Lord of the Rings!!
Spider-man!! - kid from Deep Impact and Cyderhouse Rules
um… um....can't 'member any more...

Is that FF movie FINALLY coming out?! I've been waiting since 1998….
You know, I was looking for a pic of KITT, and found links about a NEW KNIGHT RIDER MOVIE!!  Well, hehe… they call it 'Knight Rider 2000', which means that they have probably either canceled the project, or postponed it since these sites were started.  The thing that really caught my eye was that Knight and KITT are supposed to go to the future, and is described as "Knight Rider meets Mad Max", hehe...
well…mad max is in the future....

and why didn'ya post a link for KR2K? *pout*

Because all the ones I saw were sucky, outdated fan sites.  One had a pic of Hasslehoff on the Tonight Show… but that's about it (other than pics from the original, and then the second failed series).
Scary thought.. but I think Gattaca might go along with other CP movies, in the sense that the future is actually a genetic dystopia where the perfects are the haves and the imperfects are the have-nots.
Heavy Metal and Heavy Metal 2000 have some cyberpunk elements set into them… Strange Days and Johnny Mnemonic are both highly cyberpunk in nature…

Shit.. I'm too tired.. I'll have to think of some others later...

Blessings,
Cerberus

An oldy but a goody.. The Metropolis.. circa 1937..
and the movie inspired by metropolis, Dark City
Dark City was definitely a dope movie. One I'd like to see again, perhaps. What I'm wondering is why no one ever bothered mentioning Dune? I viewed that one as having CP elements.

SN: Knight Rider rocks. I still get the music stuck in my head occassionally. o.0

Heheh.. assassin drones..

shouts,"Death to the Harkonnen!"

Anyone see "Tank Girl", this awesome x-girlfriend of mine had me watch it with her.  The badlands just made me think of it, its pretty CP.
I thought that movie was about some doped-up chick that was in the Army or something. Looked pretty stupid to me, but perhaps I'll take another consideration. Is it really worth the time Astro?
ok, I saw it *stops to think, freshman year at college, dating A.)  yeah, I saw it like 3 years ago, its worth watching once, maybe twice, but definitely at least once.  I don;t remember the plot too much, but I remember the atmosphere.  I mean there are worse ways to waste two hours….*goes to wander around the badlands*
Ya know, running around the wastelands doesn't sound all that bad right now, and I would if this ISP i'm using for my dad's work didn't have firewalls and net ops that made it so that I couldn't do shit through telnet connections. Any port redirection, and it goes *poof*. Suckage. I'm still trying to find a way around it, I'm sure there is, as there always is a way around everything on computers.
Tank Girl the movie was a semi-decent trippy teen comicbook movie (ala Judge Dredd). That said, -forget- it and locate the original Tank Girl comic books… very CP.
Damnit Rastus.. took my post :P

Anyway.. I think you can get a tradepaperback of the Tank Girl comics from Dark Horse.. tho I don't know for sure… I'll have to look it up.

Ok.. my next suggestions are two Kurt Russell movies:

Escape from New York
Escape from L.A.

Both deal with post apocalyptic technological elements...

Logan's Run, possibly (?), might be another interesting tv series to watch.. basically, from what I can remember, it is one couple's escape from a utopian society, where going against the norm (e.g., having live children, rather than caring for a synthetic baby) is punishable by death… I might be mixing the title with another series, but...
I recall a rather cool movie by the name of Logan's Run, not sure about a TV series tho, unless they made a series of the movie that never made it to the UK…

Still, so far as the movie goes, your description is about right. It was all a little bit whacked out 70's psychodelia, but twas pretty cool nevertheless.
