Clones and the SIC

very simple question really…

if a person does not have a SIC implant, (either its been yanked out or they never had one in the first place), can they purchase a clone?

after reading through some threads, i have a nebulous answer in my head, but i'd still like a definitive answer to this question please. i fear this question might be a bit out of line when it comes to IC/OOC and maybe one has to find out ICly but from certain things said on the boards, I get the impression that the SIC is simply a convenient tool and doesnt have anything major to do with cloning process itself. (since as someone pointed out.. how does genetek know you died when youre in a SIC dead zone?)

maybe I already know the answer and should wander away now and stop typing.. it's just been bugging my brain with all this discussion of removable SICs and cortex bombs.

A valid question.

Honestly I don't know the answer. And it's probablly subject to change. Especially if someone goes out of their way to find out (because if they did it would clearly be for OOC reasons.) But I suspect Johnny does.

There's a theory that goes: The universe is inexplicably complex, chaotic, and strange. Were anyone to ever discover the true meaning to it, and unlock all the secrets of the universe, it would instantly cease to exist, and would be replaced my something even more complex, chaotic, and strange.

There's another theory that goes: This has probablly happened before. (Thanks DA)

Realistically, Sense/Net wouldn't do business with clients who don't have a SIC since they would have a higher chance (statistically) of dying and costing Sense/Net the fee that Genetek charges to process clone data and make a clone.

In game balance terms, I'm not ready to deny clones because someone didn't have a SIC.

Maybe at some point, but not yet, the code is too unreliable to leave someone who can afford one without a clone. Code accidents can and do happen and its a lot easier to come back if you got a clone and we don't have to get involved to 'fix' a char who was PKed due to a code bug.

thank you for the answers.

:)

Kev what your talkin about is the second law of thermodynamics(Chem 101).

It states that entropy of the universe is always increasing.

Entropy is the amount of chaos in a system, like my room has more entropy than Martha Stewarts.  So essentially the world is goin to hell in a hand basket.

This does have vaild use in chemistry, but that's a weeks worth of lessons.
