Cybernetics

So yeah, I was wondering, since I've seen more than one person walking around with their own set of nailz.  Just what cybernetics are in place in the game now?  Just the nailz, or is there something more to hope for yet?
The other question would be, do we have to obtain the parts ourselves and then take them to a doctor to have them installed, or is there a special command I gotta use on the docs to even ask them what they offer, because you ask them…they still respond with the usual, 'I don't deal with cybernetics or nano-injections."  Just lookin for a lil' clarity is all, not pointed fingers.
Slither posted here that we have new cyberware.

http://www.sindome.org/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=14&topic=37&start=10

The docs i dont think are modded yet to respond correctly.  they are available in game, tho.

I'm not sure what is available, but they can be ordered as long as a GM is on to puppet the npc doc for you. we're working on streamlining.. soon soon!!

There's not enough access to cyberware in the game.
If you've got enough cash you should be able to buy the stuff. I can understand why IC the Judges would want to limit cyberware installation, but let's face it, this is what we're looking at…

- other suppliers would crop up because there is not any ability to have control over all of RED sector

- player characters can't install cyberware unless they have their own facilities and equipment. Which are in-game but hey...want to take bets on a PC actually dedicating themself to being a cyberdoc with that specialized skillset? I think it's unlikely. And getting facilities is uh....'theoretically possible'.

- the place in cordoba mallplex is awful. Really awful to interact with the girl at the desk, who so far I've only gotten to say "Yes, I'm the one to talk to about making an appointment."

- all of the other clinics I can find don't install.

So what the hell? What am I missing here? Why are we being punished like this?

While I'm on the topic of 'theoretically possible'…a list of things that it seems you really can't do without GM intervention, even though they are 'implemented' IC.

- buy a vehicle from the store
- purchase property
- make an appointment and have the doctor/person actually there when you asked for it
- open a closed door. By grenading it. Or hacking it.

I might just not know how to do this shit IC. But how do we find out about shit that we don't already know? Like what the hell do all of these cybernetic tools do? Oh I know let's go ask a Doc OH WAIT THEY HAVE TO BE PUPPETED and probably wouldn't tell me anyways. The Library? The know-it-all hologram? Yeah Right.

Okay so yes I angry in writing this. But do you see what I'm saying? We're still in beta. Can we automate some of this shit? Do you want me to write crap for the Wiki? Honestly I try to find ways around this stuff but at a point you just really need a GM.

Vehicles work. Pay in full and it magically appears.

Property never happens. Best bet is hostile takeover ala New Jack City and wait for a GM to notice. (if they ever do)

Doctor's never play anymore…wide-open job there. :mirrorshades:

Don't get me started on doors...

Mine didn't magically appear. Anywhere.
Hostile takeovers have been tried by me and got TKOed by a GM. SO much for initiative.
Lena, for 3 out of 4 of those, keep dreaming. Those activities are ones where we doubt we'll ever completely automate the process.

Theres a number of reasons why its a bad idea. They center around a customized experience, being unable to handle something if something goes wrong in the middle of a complex process, game balance and player character archetypes.

The only one I forsee ever being something you can do without a GMs help is B&E. I got B&E working for vehicles didn't I? Give me time.

Specificly about cybernetics and their availability. Let there be no doubt, you want wares, we want you to have to interact with a PC to get them done. I LOVED playing a ripperdoc, I know other people do too. We've had some great ones, and IRL has them drawn away. Because of this, we're going to have some NPC docs added to the cast of characters in order to be understudies for the cyberdocs who are MIA. The docs that say they don't deal in things -mean they don't deal in things-. Yes, in the past, things were done with the docs out of error. Sorry about that, but it happens.

As far as buying a car goes, we need to think realistically about it. When you buy one, you're not walking into a gigantic lot and piking out which one you want. You're ordering it from a factory in god only knows where, so they shouldn't magically appear in my opinion.

As far as buying property, if it's anything like what I remember it being if you're buying property then you have entirely to much money and need to be whacked, I think J-man was saying like 250K a room on RED. I think. Not to mention that to automate all that would be such a pain. Maybe you should be able to rent out space in the malls, if that's what you mean, but still I think the admins would wanna have a say in what you're doing. Opening up a certain kind of shop on GOLD would never be allowed by the commissions, so maybe we should consider the admins the commission board in that respect.

You people sure do compain a lot about what needs to be fixed. I think we all need to remember that these guys don't get paid to do what they do. They do this because it's fun, and when we bitch at them and complain to them it makes them less inclined to wanna help us out. Instead of saying, "things should be this way, fix it." or, "There's never any admins on I can't do this!" maybe we should just be patient and see what happens. I've never needed an admin and never had one not show up, even if it meant stopping RP for a day or two until things got figured out.

Point is, appreciate what they're doing, don't bitch at them for what they're not doing.

There are solutions to these problems coming in the near to distant future…don't worry.
250K a room on red? Corpies could buy out a whole city block if they saved up for a year, heh.

I believe Iga referenced something in the millions some years back.

Just wanna remind everyone somewhat confused by the numbers, go check out the sticker price on a brand new Holden.

Class society.

Yeah, when I was old 250K a room was a loooong time ago. Before cars were even released, so I'm sure it's gone up drastically.
Yeah, 1.5 million a room for RED, and I think I remember Johnny saying if there's anyone looking for real estate on the other levels then the admins have failed to do their job… I think it was Johnny anyway. If not, sorry J-man, didn't mean to misquote you or anyone else.
There are PC ripperdocs in-game. You want ware, you just got to find them.
