Repost: Millions.

There is a part of the game that i have to keep reminding myself of…that there are millions upon millions of people in the dome. That on the SIC the names that we see are just a small section of the HUGE list that can't possibly or reasonably be put into the MOO *coughspamcough*

Now i don't claim to know the perfect way to ICly handle it. We all got our own ideas of it, and our characters interact with the millions in a different way.

These are some of my OPINIONs that i was hoping we could discuss and maybe get some agreement (riiight) or at least an understanding of how we all interperate this situation.

1) SIC public is accessable by hundreds of thousands if not millions, and sometimes it's hard to catch everything that's said. If the alias 'GaLLy' is all of a sudden gone,and the only new one is BA-99 is the only new one, you can't assume that's her.

2) We are all just faces in the crowd, some more distinguisheable than others. Even with GRS, Gally is in no way a celebrity or an icon, or even someone who's in the public eye. No matter how much i shout on the SIC or meet everyone i can, the fact remains that i am known by probably only .0003% of the dome. (if that)

3) Death,  Morder, Rape, Shootings, explosions etc. are things that happen everyday on Red. A couple bodies outside the Drome, or even in the Drome, aren't out of place. Devon isn't the only one who takes such action, so a dead body doesn't = Devon gone madd.

4) The Drome, The 'Trix, SHI, Carnal, every single street etc. are all public places and are constantly full. When we fight in SHI or the DROME, there are hundreds of eye's watching. That in mind can change how yer char would act. (disclaimer: though there are hundreds of eyes watching, any IC info you'd gain of your recent death in SHI -I- think should be gathered from other players or NPC's. Witness A is gonna mind their own business after the show's over.)

5) The smell...GAWD...it's like Casey only times three.

hehe again the above are ways i play. Please post agreements or disagreements and reasons.
I think this would be GREAT for newbies trying to get a feel for 'things to consider when RPing'.

Hmmm…ambient population. Scary thought. Though i assume that just decause someone on Red calls in a gun being pulled to WJF doesn't mean they will actually show. does it? Bunch of cowards those Judges. Always picking on the...hey, you can't stop me from...ouch, jesus! GOD NO! Not in the FACE! Ambient population? Is that what that test2 (ooc) char is all about?  Looks like your ambient population might suffer the occasional beating– cuz I found -that- one walking back and forth down Sinn Street barely clinging to life :)

I seriously believe… that in my almost year of MOOing here... That I have seen maybe ONE Justice actually arrive on time... mostly they arrive AFTER something has been commited, or after the main events if it is a long RP... so Casey, while you'll be seeing Nic... I hope all you red scum realize that you never call for help.  And then you whine and bitch about it when its not there.  So in short, shut the fuck up about it.  I don't want your crap for now.  Until the new system is in place maybe u should actually try calling a judge.  See what happens.  

I just want to post something here, I don't want anyone getting pissed, but its just my opinion.

First off, we use to call judges, we still do. Casey, we've all heard you say things revolving on you possibly getting hurt in the process… its what you signed up for in the first place.

Next, when we DO call Judges, (right now thats basically Casey, we need more) they might not be available. But on a few occasions when we have called, yes, Casey did come, after a time. Other times he hides out somewhere and throws insults... I REALLY think that if the WJF knew that a judge was hiding somewhere they'd have a problem with it. The idea I've seen from other places are stone-cold hard assed fighters, someone who takes shit from no one and thinks of the next man as a spot on thier tie. But they are PAID to protect and help, we've seen the arrogancy and hatred, but the hiding... I dunnom reprimands or something, but people who actually have a workign job need to EARN it, not just get a weekly paycheck. Perhaps that paycheck needs to be set on  what they do during the week or something, I don't know. Just my opinion, and Casey, don't take it personally, whereas Luc thinks your a jack-a** sometimes, I think that your the first actual judge besides Fission to hit the streets (we never see him anymore though, BUT WE MISS HIM!!!!)

We're currently working on a number of ideas for the WJF, the WJF Enforcer being the first in a number of things we intend to implement in the near future.
The book of law, which defines crimes and their recommended punishment is half (or more) complete. A chunk of hardware to allow Judges to access and edit criminal records is in the pipeline, along with a feature to allow them to take fines into the WJF coffers instead of their own pocket.
Completion of vehicles will see some WJF mobile units in action, making Judge response times a little more reasonable.
We're also looking for new Judges, although generally most of the existing characters are already too deep intot the life of crime to suddenly become Judges. A couple of Judges may be joining the ranks soon, and hopefully with the new features we'll see some of the inactive Judges get their asses into gear (before we fire them, hint hint).
Believe it or not there are at least half a dozen player Judges on the WJF payroll, Casey seems to be the only one doing -anything-, so all credit to him, even if he does die too much.

Commision should be thier ONLY payment. Not only do they get shitloads of gear and stuff for FREE, but they get a weekly salary as well, and all those judges sitting around doing nothing get a weekly payment as well. Besides, Judges that do shit are not judges at all.

Besides Judges, I think we need to get some kind of other Justice force in, something equivalent to FBI or something like that, I dunno, or maybe even a small Dome army. Thought has crossed my mind, might even try and RP into one. Peace.

Regardless of what uniform they wear, WJF is supposed to be the end all of the protective/defensive for the city. They are the Army, they are the Air Force, the are the LAPD.

The WJF is there to protect Corpies from scum…yeah it helps the cause for them to descend into hell once in awhile, but yeah it's not as friendly a place for them.

And Casey, Yer a judge, you chose it, it's your IC role. Red contains 80%+ of the dome's population, most of which commit crimes to stay alive and are being suppressed by the corporations you work for. It is a simple concept to grasp that the Judges would be hated by a lot  of people...the players treat you as such, it's IC...have fun with it.

Judges that go bad and Judge killers are considered the worst scum by the WJF.
So expect even worse concequences than any other.

wow.. gotta love protecting the innocent and vanquishing the guilty.

Anyways, I've decided to propose a new idea... Bodily amplifiers. Basically holographic devices that allow you to change the look of something of your body. (size, clothing, hair, eyes, voice, size o'muscles, etc.) A fun party game... and a great way to scare the piss outah someone when you seem to burst into flames and your hair suddenly turns blue... *eyes* Right, I just think it'd be interesting.

Mask makes it seem like a porcelin thingy on a stick.

Going back to the Judges on commision, is there enough action for that to be implimented? Everyone would be in jail right now.. or have hug ass fines.. or paying a lot of money for new clones. Maybe an assumed commision would have to be put in. Kinda like the assumed work time in the Starvation topic. It would have to be assumed that they made so many arrests or whatnot a week. A quota sort of things.

Just my 2 mangled pennies worth.

maybe it's because my charcter is a mixer but I think crime hasn't been running as rampid as it should down on red.

and the WJF should avoid red and be scared of it... how many of the ambient mixers would want a piece of them, as well as the PC ones? �

Crime on red can be divided into to categories:

The first is crime comitted by the characters and other -live- people. �While this is at some level IC information, I will say that people are getting sneakier and smarter (keep up the good work scum) so it's very possible that the characters see or know about less of it than in the past. �That would make it -appear- that there is less crime. �The fact that corpses are again decomposing *cough* helps to maintain this.

The second, is crime comitted by the ambient population. �And that can be considered to be a constant. �That is something that relates to the theme, the feel, the way a player RPs. �It shows up in little things outside of the descriptions like not counting your chyen in public, looking ahead of where you're walking, @look_place messages, and a million other small things. �It's something that should be RPd, much more than it is. �And the more people RP it, the more into the 'feel' of red they can become. �Fear, is a big part of living on red, and it's something that is lacking. �We can't all be the biggest BadAss around, and most people are smart enough to know that.

As for the Judges, and I can't speak for the PC judges and would ask them to expand on this from thier own perspective, but it's just not in the personality make up of a Judge to be fearful to the point of avoidance.

Don't get me wrong, they would have to have a healthy respect for red in terms of the potential for what can happen, but that is knowledge based and can be managed more easily than the more emotional response of fear, otherwise, they just wouldn't be effective.
