I was wondering, what exactly is the cyberspace/computer thingy in SD? It seems like it'd be the Matrix, because that's one of the biggest things in cyberpunk, but according to the timeline, Withmore banned the Matrix and fell back on a different system.
So this raises the question ( though maybe only to me), what is the computer system? Is it usable IC? Is it readily available, or expensive stuff?
This is probably a textbook newbie question, but I gotta learn somehow.

If you'd think it'd be here, or it should be here... being in Beta is reason. We are adding as we go, getting everything tested and debugged. Eventually, everything will be up and running... (hopefully). And yes, the Matrix will be up. Damon actually has the Matrix itself made, it just needs code to set it up and an IC RP for it.

Yes the matrix has been band and now they've got a textual system (rather than graphical) in place. ICly there is a matrix, it's just illegal and there is no public (or any) access to it. If you notice on teh SIC (if it's still there) there're messages about a vote on freeing the Matrix etc. So yeah there will be a Matrix…
And what Luc said about being beta is true and some things are on hold timeline wise until we're out of testing. Also some things in the timeline could be changed, who knows.

Some extra info for the curious…
Damon did indeed start coding the matrix and has some significant chunks of it completed, most notably the avatar system which allows your character object to be in two places at once, sort of... I won't explain the tech code side.
Since Damon left the matrix was informally tasked to me, assuming I were to get round to it before Damon's return. At the moment it doesn't look like I'll be getting round to it any time soon. I'm wanting to more thoroughly finish some other systems before I move onto another major project.
Normally I would have said Damon would be back to complete it before I get round to it... but with the recent world events, who knows when Damon will be back. I'm thinking he picked the -worst- possible time to sign up for the armed forces...

I'm confused cause it says Rastus is banned but he's supposed to be working on the matrix. Is anyone working on it or is going to work on it eventually? Any idea when it will eventually be implemented?

Rastus has been gone since I started playing here, I think. Projects page just doesn't get updated. Ever.
AFAIK, Kevlar has been working on it pretty hardcore for a long time now. I pray to whatever God is listening that it's seen soon or I'm gonna go nuts.
We just started working on Matrices in my Algebra II class. *cough* I'm taking it as an omen.

I don't knwo what kinda character you are, but if your supposed to be a decker, you should have your stats up already, Last i heard we are talkin a matter of months on the matrix *shrugs* But only the men up stairs know.
