Red Sector

Red Sector, commonly called the Mix, is the lowest level of Withmore City, beneath Gold Sector. It is home to a large share of the city's poor and to densely crowded streets, residential towers, markets, factories, and entertainment venues. Poverty and organized crime shape daily life, alongside the businesses and services on which residents depend.

Central Red

Central Red contains four major neighborhoods. Little Kyoto and San Mayo occupy its northern side, while The Gulag and Chinatown lie to the south. Bansupuro Park borders the central district to the north, the ToxPower plant stands to the east, and the Sector Correctional Facility occupies its western edge. Bansupuro's name survives from its intended role as a public leisure area; the park is now closed and off-limits.

Sinn Street runs across the northern part of the central district and is associated with clubs, sex work, and nightlife. Fuller Street forms a busy east-west axis through the district, with shops, markets, medical care, bars, and inexpensive accommodations. Ashlin Street runs along the southern side, passing the Ashlin Mini Mall and the corner occupied by 100 Rads.

Neighborhoods

Little Kyoto, centered on North Tamiya Avenue and Sinn Street, takes its name from its history of Japanese immigration. Its population is now thoroughly multicultural. The neighborhood includes the Deji-Pachi pachinko parlour and pub, Kro's Kar Kare garage and junkyard, and the Skyrise Trailer Park.

San Mayo lies around North Fallout Street and Sinn Street. Formerly associated with Spanish-speaking arrivals from the Latin Trade Collective and Amazonia, it too has become multicultural. The PRI Robotics Factory, Red Canary brothel, and crowded residential towers such as Vivienda De Guevara and Xpress Heights stand within the neighborhood.

The Gulag developed around Slavic-speaking refugees from the wars of the mid-twenty-first century. Russian cultural influence remains visible alongside newer immigrant communities, including a strong local tradition of hostility toward cloning and Genetek Revival. Constantine General Hospital, the Gulag Xchange, and 100 Rads are among its landmarks.

Chinatown occupies the southeastern part of central Red, around South Fallout Road and Ashlin Street. Its food and street decorations reflect East and South Asian communities, including immigrants from the Chinese Empire and Philippine Protectorate. The Ashlin Crown and its mall, Southside Connections, and Blue Lantern Diner are notable destinations.

Work, Services, and Street Power

Industrial employment, small businesses, courier work, and entertainment all form part of Red's economy. Acme Courier Services, on Lambs Wake Drive south of Fuller Street, handles package deliveries in the sector. Fuller Street's shops and cube hotels serve established residents and new arrivals, while the surrounding neighborhoods contain facilities ranging from small clinics to Constantine General Hospital.

Three major street gangs claim the central district's principal streets: The Sinners on Sinn, The Snakes on Fuller, and The Arteries on Ashlin. Their influence crosses neighborhood boundaries. The Sinners hold much of the street territory in both Little Kyoto and San Mayo, while the Arteries operate across the Gulag and Chinatown. Gang control can take the form of taxes and tolls imposed on street activity.

TERRA handles day-to-day law enforcement in Red. Its relationship with the Withmore Justice Force dates to the 2087 contract to patrol central areas of the sector. Police authority and gang claims coexist within the same crowded district.

Infrastructure is uneven. Poor SIC coverage routinely leaves parts of Red in communications dead zones, interrupting access to a network central to city life.

Migration and Overcrowding

Red has absorbed successive waves of immigration. In 2079, hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing purges in the Latin Trade Collective arrived in Withmore, many settling in an already overcrowded Red Sector. The city's severe immigration restrictions of 2080 followed this influx. The neighborhoods' different origins remain visible, but their populations have continued to change as new arrivals make their homes in the Mix.
