Macro safe traffic
Please send help

So I've had an opportunity now to drive both bikes and cars. One thing i have an issue with is traffic stopping my input string. Why do I have to manually move through traffic? It stops my ability to rp while driving. If I drive a car and there is traffic I would like to be able to put in the tunnel directions once and be able to just WAIT in traffic than having it become a super manual task. Is there any way to have us wait in traffic AND only put in the directions once? It would be a huge QOL improvement.
That being said If we cant do this, i mean I guess I get it.

Yes, there is.

Hire a CHEX or SKYFOX driver.

Traffic is suppose to be annoying. You aren't suppose to be able to optimize traffic. You can still RP, just remember where you are. The corners of the tubes have directional signs.

As someone with a disability that cant hold two thoughts in their head at the same time its difficult and I get turned around almost every time. Also these lines are also once every five spaces and only happen on the turns. I physically need to count how many rooms I move and its just freaking exhausting. I dont see a reason why it cant be stream lined a little. The waiting is suppose to be the tedious part. Not grtting turned around in a tunnel because you lose focus.

Arguably getting turned around in the tunnels is also by design. I've played 2 cab drivers during my time, and get turned around all the time in the tunnels.

It's part of the experience. Driving is a manual task (unless you drive a string).

I'm open to ideas.

Personally I don't like the experience, but I understand why Johnny implemented it. Between sector travel is supposed to be tedious. And traffic sucks. Feel you on it interrupting your RP and being easy to forget which way you were going. Same thing happens to me. It's why I added the signs a few years back.

We aren't going to be changing the experience meaningfully. It might be more helpful to redirect the discussion to how we can more easily make it clear what direction you want to be traveling or other ways to improve it without changing traffic.

Maybe a small way would be 'drive c[continue]' which will replay previous 'drive' entry? Should be easy enough to implement I think, store last drive string, replay when you type `drive c`. At the turns there are signs, so you won't get lost there, and the rest are a straight line

Don't most clients just let you hit up to go to the previous command, like the web client?
Sure, but most people plant a longer path ahead when driving the tubes, including just through the whole thing. So you have to keep editing it as you go through rooms, and then resume the long road.

If you switch to going one by one then yeah, that works.

What about putting the directional arrows in every room desc? Seems like the simplest way to make it easier on screen reader users without diminishing the traffic struggle in general.

Time to buy a motorcycle.
