Right now you can only search a string of 4-20 characters in the node-search. For topics-search, the string length you're allowed to search is extended to 3-200.
My suggestion is that you increase the search string range for node searches to be between 3-20 characters. That way we can search acronyms like NLM, or find info about characters with three-letter names. Even better if we could search for strings of 2 characters, so we could look up '7x' for instance.
