The idea
Cyberware, perhaps a cyberear module, that essentially functions as a gridphone. You can talk out loud to whoever you're on the phone with, potentially interface with other cyberware for sub-vocal integration (like with radio implants), and if you have a compatible overlay, why not use it for texting, too? I'd personally like to see apps working with this, too, but understand this may seem a little overpowered. Maybe a select few apps, like contacts?
Why it helps
Nobody likes getting their phone dipped, so this provides an (appropriately priced) alternative. Shell out some extra chy for a phone that can't be dipped without sending you to the vats or a back-alley ripper first. Of course, a module like this will cost more than a regular Gridphone.
Will this idea increase RP?
I believe it would. Surgeons would get more business, more people (I feel) would become interested in cyberware, and feel more comfortable leaving their home with their phone, so they can text and call people on the go.
Other considerations (optional)
While we may not "need" something like this, and things like the radio module do already exist, I think this would be a nice addition simply because it's cool. We already have gridphones, we already have radio modules, we already have a lot of things. To me, an important part of the whole cyberpunk aesthetic and theme is the diversity of it. Get a room full of people, those people should have at least five different ways of doing essentially the same thing. Different phones, different terminals, different clothes. Plus, I mean, wouldn't companies like Saedor-Krupp be trying to cram as many doohickeys as they can into the human body? Shit, they should be selling a cyberarm that has a panini press in it. I'd buy that garbage.
