It seems to me like the "name" is hard coded into the system, and not necessarily an IC mechanism.

Given that, is it okay to RP providing a bank account "number" to transfer funds as opposed to a "name"?

Will there ever be a way to alias bank accounts? Maybe limit it to one alias to keep things from getting too out of control?

For example, I have never used my coded name as my name for anything, but I have to use it for bank transfers, and people start calling me by that name, even though it isn't my legal name, or actual name, is what I highly dislike about it.

This is like when you drag a stranger baka to the clinic and tell the doctor to "Revive JoeBaka".

You don't know their name is JoeBaka, it's meta for you to tell the doctor to revive them by their name, but it's the simplest form of addressing someone.

Another problem with this is you can review transactions on credchips which simply provide other PC's names. If a credchip is stolen, how is the person responsible for that theft supposed to handle that IC information they can gleam from the chip?

The problem occurs when someone hears you say “Revive Bill”

Or “yes transfer the money to account Bill”

And they run off and use it ICly. Then it snowballs to where everyone in the game is calling you your codes name that you’ve never gone by.

This is resolved. We are using SIC aliases now, and it solves all the issues.
